Studying can be expensive and it is essential to be aware of how much your course will cost you. Try to find out about what financial help you are entitled to before you enrol. There are many different funding support packages available to learners who want to study full-time or part-time. What you are entitled to will depend upon your individual circumstances. This section highlights the costs you are likely to incur and the type of financial support you may be eligible for.

There are also a number of organisations can give you helpful information on financing your studies. The Support4learning organisation provides a comprehensive set of links to all funding and welfare benefits available within the UK. Scholarship Search UK provides a free search facility for all UNDERGRADUATE students wanting to study in the UK, whatever nationality. The site covers scholarships and sponsorship above the value of £100 per annum, and the databases are being continually updated. The search facility is FREE to students, parents and careers advisers, and no pre-registration is necessary.

The Educational Grants Advisory Service (ECAS) gives advice to students and potential students on specific funding and finance queries. They should be contacted by post in the first instance at the following address:

Student Money Advice Office

There is plenty of financial advice and practical help provided by the Money Advice Office, run by Student Support Services. This team provides advice to on how to manage and budget the money you will have as a student. They also administer a range of funds that provide loans, and further grants of up to up £3,500 to students who can show they are in hardship. If you do have problems managing your money the staff in this office can also help through debt counselling.
