Taliesin Arts Centre

At the heart of the campus is the Taliesin Arts Centre. Although the purpose-built centre is owned and run by the University, its wide-ranging activities are open to everybody.

Throughout the year there is a mixed programme of professional and amateur drama, dance, film and concerts ranging from classical to jazz and world music. The Ceri Richards Gallery is a self-financing commercial gallery which offers artists and craftspeople space to show and hopefully sell their work, and a range of crafts and artists' cards to suit all pockets.

In the main Taliesin building are a well-equipped theatre (which also serves as a concert hall and cinema) seating up to 365 people, the Gallery, and spacious foyer and bar areas which are a popular place for audiences to relax and friends to meet.

The Bookshop and a branch of Lloyds Bank are situated on the ground floor. In the older Annexe are sound-proof music practice and tuition rooms, a score and record library, and art and pottery studios. For more information see http://www.taliesinartscentre.co.uk/

Waterstones

Waterstone's Booksellers on campus is a spacious, specialist academic bookshop located on the ground floor of the Taliesin. We work closely with lecturers to ensure that all the University course textbooks are stocked when required as well as having all the current bestsellers on display with promotions and offers changing regularly. Our Loyalty Card enables even greater savings to be made. Please call in for more details. We pride ourselves on our experienced, speedy and cheerful service and can offer students lots of advice that they may not receive on line.

Sport Swansea

Swansea University prides itself on our superb sporting facilities. The Department of Sport and Physical Recreation coordinates sport at Swansea and are based at the Sport Centre.

We have a variety of facilities ranging from a modern, well equipped gym, tennis courts, outdoor playing fields and Astroturf pitches, outdoor tennis courts and a multi-purpose sports hall that can accommodate basketball, badminton, fencing and more. Egypt Centre

Located within the Taliesin building, the Egypt Centre is a museum of Egyptian antiquities open to the public. There are over 4500 items in the collection. Most of them were collected by the pharmacist Sir Henry Wellcome. Others came to us from: the British Museum; the Royal Edinburgh Museum; National Museums and Galleries of Wales Cardiff; the Royal Albert Museum and Art Gallery and also private donors.

The Centre is a centre of excellence for museology, providing advice to other museums throughout Britain and collaborating with the Department of Classics and Ancient History on the Egyptology BA.

Egypt Centre staff regularly give lectures and talks to museum groups and other outside bodies on widening participation in university museums; social inclusion and volunteering. Schools regularly visit us to take part in a stimulating and interactive programme of events. The museum is registered and provides a high standard of collection care and interpretation.
