The National Student Survey is an annual review of what final year undergraduate students think about their courses. The survey takes into account several different factors, including teaching quality, academic support, management, resources, and personal development.
The Department of Economics, in the University's School of Business and Economics, has consistently performed well above the sector average in the Survey, with Teaching Quality scoring particularly well.
The Department was joint top in the UK for student satisfaction when asked to rate staff enthusiasm about what they are teaching, and was second in terms of their approachability (in response to the question: "I have been able to contact staff when I needed to".)
Economics at Swansea has a strong tradition of delivering high quality teaching. In 2007, the Economics Network of the Higher Education Academy, which celebrates good practice within the higher education economics community, awarded two of its three leading prizes to staff at Swansea.
Swansea also received another Economics Network national teaching award for excellence in 2008, meaning that staff at the University have been awarded more leading prizes in Economics than any other institution since the awards were initiated.

Economics' research success
In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, 100 per cent of the research undertaken by Economics at Swansea was deemed to be of an international standard, with 60 per cent assessed as world leading or of internationally excellent quality.
Studying in such a research-driven environment enables students to benefit from world-leading lecturers who are able to bring their research into their teaching.
Swansea's students regularly study economic theory as it is put into practice, which adds real value to their degree programme and, ultimately, to their employability.
