Alternative Travel Map

A greener alternative to getting around Swansea

The third edition of a map which provides a one-stop-shop for information on greener travel around the Swansea area was launched in May. The revised Alternative Travel Map, which is produced by the Swansea Bay Alternative Travel Forum (SBATF), was unveiled by Minister for Enterprise, Innovation and Networks, Andrew Davies AM, at the National Waterfront Museum.

Partner members of the Forum include Swansea University, Swansea Metropolitan University, Swansea College, the City and County of Swansea, Swansea NHS Trust, Wheelrights, SWWITCH and First Cymru, who work together to promote sustainable transport in Swansea.

In addition to listing contact details for local bus services and the national rail network, the map charts city centre and Gower Peninsula bus, cycle and walking routes. It also provides detailed information about other alternative methods of transport such as the Landore and Fabian Way park and ride facilities and car sharing. As well as encouraging travellers to help environment by reducing traffic congestion, pollution and parking problems, the sustainable travel guide to Swansea also promotes the health benefits of cycling or walking.
